Having reviewed just about every phone that hits the market, we know how much they should cost and can see through fake RRPs. We also use price history tools to check if it really is the lowest ever seen, and we thoroughly check all major retailers as well as some lesser-known ones.
Essentially, we combine the hard legwork with our expertise to make sure you are getting the right deal.

Best Black Friday mid-range phone deal: Google Pixel 9a
- Was £499

Anyron Copeman / Foundry
Why buy it? The Google Pixel 9a is one of our favourite mid-range phones of the year and if you’ve been waiting to get one, then it’s paid off – literally. Google’s cheapest current-gen smartphone is a really good all-rounder for performance, design, cameras, software and more and is extremely good value in this deal.
Note: The deal is limited to the Porcelain colour, but if you don’t mind spending a little more black (Obsidian) is another £1 and all colours are available from all major retailers at £349, including Google, Argos, Very, Currys and John Lewis.

Top alternatives:
Best Black Friday budget phone deal: Samsung Galaxy A17 5G

Chris Martin / Foundry
Why buy it? Samsung’s latest budget Android phone only launched a few weeks ago, but you can already save big. While it’s almost identical to its predecessor, the Galaxy A17 5G is a sleek phone in design and has a large punchy screen along with a solid main camera (in good lighting) and two-day battery life. Add in Samsung’s long software support and popular user interface, and you’ve got yourself a bargain.
Who’s it for? You want a very cheap Samsung phone to last many years and don’t need powerful performance.
Top alternatives:
Best Black Friday previous-gen phone deal: Samsung Galaxy S24
- Was £799
- Now £389
- £310 off, lowest ever price
- At EE

Dominik Tomaszewski / Foundry
Why buy it? Buying a previous-gen model can be one of the most savvy tech purchases you can make. Phones don’t often change that much between models and long software support ensures it will still last you a long time. The Galaxy S24 is still a top-notch phone and it will keep going for long time with Samsung’s software support. This deal makes it cheaper than a lot of mid-range phones.
Who’s it for? You want a flagship-level phone but don’t mind missing out on the latest hardware features.
Top alternatives:
Best Black Friday phone deal under £100: Xiaomi Redmi Note 14
- Was £179

The 4G model on offer here is very similar and has a huge discount taking it under £100. It’s a 2025 model and you get a large AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 108Mp main camera, along with a decent battery and faster charging than some flagship phones.
Who’s it for? You want a really cheap phone with a big screen and good battery life and don’t mind about 5G.
Top alternative:
Best Black Friday fast charger deal: Anker Nano 45W USB-C
- Was £24.99
- Now £17.99
- 24% off, lowest ever price
- At Amazon

Anker
Why buy it? Very few phones come with a charger (aka an adapter) these days and choosing the right one is harder than ever. There are certainly cheaper options out there but we recommend this model from Anker, which is affordable, compact (including foldable pins) and includes a 6ft cable too. It can charge at up to 45W with PD and PPS tech, covering most phones – including iPhone 17 and Pixel 10 Pro XL.
Who’s it for? You want a great all-round charger able to hit 45W on many devices.
Best Black Friday MagSafe charger deal: Anker Zolo Magnetic
- Was £17.99
- Now £11.99
- 33% off, lowest ever price

Anker
Why buy it? Magnetic Qi2 charging has been around for a while, but it’s only going to become more common now that the Pixel 10 series has introduced it (as Pixelsnap) to flagship Android phones. While this model says it’s not for Pixel, but one review says it works fine with a Pixel 10. The charger snaps neatly into place with magnets and can charge at 15W.
Who’s it for? You want a cheap MagSafe charging puck.
- £119
- £74
- 38% off, lowest ever price
- 4-pack
- At Amazon

Why buy it? eSIMs are an extremely convenient way of having an additional SIM card in your phone, mainly to avoid roaming charges when travelling abroad. However, they have plenty of uses and you may even need one if you have an eSIM-only phone like the iPhone Air. A whopping 25% off all Airlo’s unlimited data plans is an amazing deal.
Who’s it for? You want a bargain on unlimited eSIM data.
What is Black Friday?
After a holiday of giving thanks for family, friends, and settled life, American retailers opted to juxtapose Thanksgiving with a huge day of commercial spending. Who were we Brits to resist the allure of heavily discounted items, too?
It is debated whether or not Black Friday refers to a day retailers finally went ‘into the black’, meaning they finally made a profit for the year, thanks to heightened sales, or whether it actually has morphed from a description of horrible traffic in Philadelphia on the Friday after Thanksgiving.
When Black Friday first gained huge popularity about 10 years ago, it was usual to see newsreels of people physically fighting over big TVs in the middle of Walmart (or Asda in the UK, which then opted not to take part because of the mayhem).

Dominik Tomaszewski / Foundry
You can’t blame them really, as scenes often got out of hand at shops. But Black Friday has passed beyond trivial now as it has moved online, and it is serious business for retailers, lasting the whole month of November for many.
Deals stretch into December due to Cyber Monday, which falls on 1 December this year, and many deals we’re seeing in early November will remain until this date or even further (more on price promises below).
Should I wait for an even better deal?
Even with our best crystal ball gazing efforts and many years of experience covering sales, it’s hard to say if you’ll get a better deal if you wait for Black Friday itself or Cyber Monday.
There’s definitely a chance depending on the product and you could always buy now if you see a good deal and return it if you see a better one (keep it unopened in the original packaging). Or some retailers will price match if you see it at a lower price.
Our typical advice is that if you see something you really want at a great price that suits you then go for it. If it’s an Amazon Lightning Deal, then you will need to snag one before the allocated stock runs out or the time runs out.
You can buy with confidence if you see a retailer guaranteeing the price won’t drop lower. For example, Argos products with a ‘Price Promise’ badge purchased between 31 Oct – 2 Dec won’t get any cheaper before 25 December.
Currys also offers a similar scheme and if you’re shopping on Amazon and see a red box saying ‘Limited time deal’ or similar, click on the little ‘i’ next to it to find out how long the deal is available for.
Tip: Colour choice makes a price difference for Black Friday

Argos
The most important thing to do when considering whether something is a good deal is to ask yourself: “Would I still want and buy this if it was full price?” Often the answer may be no, which means you need to think whether you’re saving money with a discount, or wasting it caught up in the excitement or fomo of a sale.
A deal for one person won’t be a deal for someone else, no matter how many times Amazon, Argos or John Lewis might tell you otherwise.
It isn’t unusual (or difficult, or illegal) for some retailers to put prices up on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Yes, that’s right – sometimes discount prices are higher on Black Friday or Cyber Monday compared to the rest of the year because dishonest retailers know they will get more page views from people ready to click buy.
You can use resources like CamelCamelCamel or PriceSpy to compare prices to previous days, weeks and months. It’s one of the things we do, along with knowing how much things should cost, to verify if a deal is genuine.
