No matter whether it’s a wet spillage on a hardwood floor, like a glass of juice, or pet or human hair and dirt that’s embedded into your rug or carpet, the Bissell CrossWave OmniFind 400E7 can tackle it.
The whole idea behind the OmniFind is that it’s been designed to spot and eliminate pet hair. And it’s all thanks to features like the clever FurFinder headlights, which light up the debris your floor, so it’s unmissable, and tangle-free technology that minimises hair wrap (and the need to get your scissors out to detangle your machine).
Then there’s the clever two-tank tech, which keeps the clean and dirty water separate, so you’re always washing your floors with fresh water and cleaning solution, rather than dirty water.
Of course, you’re not stuck for choice when it comes to the best wet and dry vacuums. But to find out if the CrossWave OmniFind is right for your home, keep reading.
Design and Build
- Well-made, lightweight and cordless
- 4.8kg
- 110.7×27.x27cm
Unlike some other cleaning gadgets, the Bissell CrossWave OmniFind is easy to set up. By way of design, the floor cleaner comes in two parts: the handle and the body. Once you’ve clicked the handle into the body of the machine, popped it on its docking station and plugged the charger into the plug, you’ll then need to wait for up to four hours for this cordless machine to fully charge. When it’s ready, you’ll have 25 minutes of cleaning power to work with. That’s not as long as some rivals we’ve tested but for most people, most of the time, it’ll be enough.
If space is of the essence, that’s another advantage of this model. It’s 110.7cm in height, 27cm wide and has a 27cm diameter. Meanwhile, the small docking station that doubles up as a charger is just as neat. On first glance, you’d never even know it was there. This makes the floor cleaner suitable for small spaces as there’s no chunky base or vacuum to home.

The vacuum feels well-made but lightweight, so you can take it from room to room without feeling that you’ve done a full-on workout. It’s black with accents of grey and blue throughout. It has two separate tanks: a 0.6L tank for clean water (this sits at the back and has a fill line) and a 0.4L one for dirty water (which sits at the front). Both of these tanks are removable, which makes them easy to fill up and decant. To do so, there are release buttons on both the front and back.
The machine also comes with a removable brush and filter for easy cleaning, and the brand’s so-called ‘FurFinder’ headlights, which beam in the vacuum’s path and light up fur balls effectively.

Using the Bissell CrossWave is pretty simple, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less brilliant. The control panel is situated on the body of the machine. There you’ll find the power button, buttons for two cleaning modes (either hard surface or area rug mode) and the ‘Clean-out’ cycle, which, as the name suggests, will clean your machine. You also have a battery indicator that shows how much power you have left.

Performance and Features
- Easy to use – just plug it in, charge and go
- Works just as well on multiple surfaces, including lino, hardwood floors, carpets and rugs
- Self cleaning
- Water tank will need refilling a couple of times to clean a large room
After waiting for the OmniFind to finish charging, the full battery indicator light lets you know that it’s ready to go. Next, it’s time to fill up the tank with warm fresh water, top it up with cleaning fluid, take it out of its base and lean the vacuum cleaner back slightly – if it’s standing too upright, it will power off. Once you press the on button and choose your floor function, the vacuum gets to work to tackle grime.
Within seconds, fresh water starts draining from the tank with each swipe, quickly followed by murky water that’s been sucked back up. This easy-to-manoeuvre floor cleaner has four wheels, making cleaning, and swerving your machine through spillages and around furniture, easy.
Of course, you can use this machine as a spot cleaner, on spilt drinks, patches of pet hair or to give sticky spots a once-over. During testing, I used this cleaner for all of the above. It never let me down. The only thing to note is that if you have a large room, like a through-lounge or open plan space, you’ll notice that the fresh water will drain quite quickly. But if the dirty water tank is full, the indicator light on the display will illuminate, giving you a nudge to do so.
It was surprising to see just how well the rotating brush helped to remove stubborn stains, like tracked-in mud, and how it pulled up dirt and hair too. Essentially, you’re getting a vacuum and mop in one, as you won’t have to vacuum your floors or attend to crumbs before using it.
Another brilliant feature? Unlike your average mop, it separates the fresh water from the dirty thanks to its two-tank technology. This means you not only get to see the dirty water appear before your eyes (which is quite satisfying), but there’s no worry that the Bissell CrossWave is cleaning your floors by spreading dirty liquid from one side of your room to the other.

Once you’re done, the ‘clean out’ button takes your vacuum cleaner on a 40-second cleaning cycle, which flushes out dirt, hair and debris. You just need to take your brush roll out and let it dry once this programme has finished.
As for downsides, the only thing this machine can’t do is reach crumbs concealed in corners or mop your floors right to the edge. Personally speaking, this doesn’t bother me too much, as you’ll still need to pick up your vacuum cleaner occasionally to dust, so you can do the edges of your room then. Either way, after using this cleaning gadget, the end result is floors and carpets that smell fresh and look and feel much cleaner than before you started.
Price and Availability

Should you buy the Bissell CrossWave OmniFind 4007E?
The Bissell OmniFind proves that cleaning up pet hair, spillages and stubborn pieces of dirt doesn’t need to be complicated. While this isn’t the most advanced or fancy floor cleaner, it is one of the best for banishing dirt, debris and hair from your floors – which, if you’re a pet owner or have a spillage-prone household, is all you is all you can ask for, right?
I really appreciate the fact that not only will this floor cleaner remove dirt before your eyes (just check out your dirty tank after using it), the machine will purge itself of any bacteria, crumbs and clumps of hair it’s picked up. This means the next time you use it, it will be clean and bacteria-free.
Again, the OmniFind does an excellent job of separating dirty water from fresh. This is something I’m really conscious of, especially if you intend to clean multiple rooms in one go as you don’t want to bring sticky spills from one room to another, and this vacuum cleaner prevents that from happening. The same can be said for cleaning itself after it’s done its job – it makes getting rid of pet hair, human hair and crumbs inside your machine simple.
Overall, the Bissell OmniFind is a brilliant floor cleaner that works just as well on carpets and rugs as it does on lino and hardwood. It’s satisfying and pretty humbling to see the water turn from clear to grey, but it’s the ultimate way to know that your floors are way (way) cleaner than before.
