Flip phones are fantastic devices. Not only are they portable enough to fit in most pockets, but their large screens mean they are great entertainment devices.

As we’ve looked at before in our buying guide (see Tech Advisor, November 2024) there’s a wide range of options out there, but the best flip phone we’ve ever seen is Motorola’s Razr 60 Ultra, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 will have to go some to beat it. Also, this month, it seems barely a week goes by without warnings in the media about scammers trying to get their hands on our hard-earned cash. One area that is becoming more prevalent is phone-based fraud. Scammers are using increasingly sophisticated techniques to trick us into handing over sensitive financial information. Inside, we reveal the most common scams, how to improve your protection and what to do if you suspect you’ve received a scam call.

Then, the iPhone was launched, and the once-popular device fell out of favour and then out of existence.
